Picture
The email type can be set to MAPI or SMTP. Choosing MAPI will use the default profile for Microsoft Outlook and requires Outlook or another MAPI compliant emailer be installed on the Dev Hound server. Choose SMTP will use a regular SMTP mail account and has the following settings:
  • SMTP Login : Some SMTP Servers require you to login to the SMTP server - if authentication is required choose those option. If you are unsure turn this option off
  • Your Name : The name the email comes from. This may be any name for example "Dev Hound"
  • Email Address : The email address the email will come from. This can be any email address. If a user replies to an email this is the email address that will be used
  • Mail Server : The name of the mail server for example mail.domainname.com
  • POP Login : Whether to log into the POP account (not required but can avoid replaying errors)
  • Username : Username for the POP account (or SMTP login if set)
  • Password : Password for the POP account (or SMTP login if set)

Note: When Dev Hound emails using SMTP it will first log into the POP account using the username and password provided then email using SMTP. The reason for this is to avoid the mail server blocking the email due to relaying restrictions.
