Discussion Board
Dev Hound provides discussion boards for use as public forums for messages on topics. To view the discussion boards simply click the Discussion tab
Starting a Topic
To start a new discussion board topic:
- Click on the Discuss tab
- Click on the relevant Discussion Board link (the following page will appear)
- Click on New Topic
- Enter a descriptive Subject
- Enter your Message
- Click on Save
- Your message will appear at the top of the discussion board
Replying to a Message
To reply to a discussion board post:
- Click on the Discussion tab
- Click the Message Board link of your choice
- Click the Topic you wish to reply to
- Click on the Reply button (if unavailable you do not have Message adding rights)
- Enter your Message and click Save
Board Security
To setup security on discussion boards:
- Click on the Admin tab
- Click on the Security Groups link
- Click the group to change security with
- The following security items affect discussion boards:
- Show Discussion Page - Whether the discussion tab is displayed
- Allow Message Deletion - Whether message posts may be deleted
- Allow Message Adding - Whether message posts may be added/replied to
- Allow Message Board Adding - Whether message boards may be added/ edited
Adding a Discussion Board
To create a new discussion board:
- Click on the Discussion tab
- Click on New Board (if unavailable then check security group settings)
- Enter the Board Name and Description
- Click on Save
Editing a Discussion Board
To edit the name or description of an existing discussion board:
- Click on the Discussion tab
- Click on the Plus icon next to the discussion board (if unavailable then check security group settings)
- Edit the Board Name or Description
- Click on Save
Deleting Discussion Board Posts
To delete a message board post:
- There will be a Cross icon next to the post time of the message board post. If this is unavailable then your user security access does not have the right Allow message deletion
- Click on the Cross icon to delete the post
