Desktop Gateway Groups

Home Contents

Desktop Gateway by default does not separate users at all. This means that any Desktop Share user who connects to the gateway can be controlled by any Desktop View user. If you run a large company or would like to seperate users into groups (eg into sales, support or company A, company B) then you should take a look at the Desktop Gateway groups tab.

  • Open the Desktop Gateway application
  • Click the Groups tab
  • The following screen should appear:

Managing Groups

  • Adding Groups: To add a new group the group name in the group edit box, optionally specify a group password, then click the Add button.
  • Edit Groups Click on the group name in the list. Modify the name or password and click the Apply button
  • Deleting Groups Click the group name in the list and click the Delete button

Customizing Desktop Share for Groups

To utilize groups properly you will need to get Desktop Share to specify a group. This is done by customizing a Desktop Share application. Select the group to customize and click on the Customize button. The familiar customization dialog will appear. This dialog is specific to the group you selected and keeps its settings for this specific group.
